The official view is never a point of view
In the previous episode, I spoke to you in a rush all the pain I think the word "official." As I have nothing intelligent to say, as from there on to power my blog.

To compensate, I guess we always try to give a higher viewpoint by calling it "true" because if it's true, other views are false and should not be mentioned (a tactic absurd when you look at the concept of NPOV, but overall it works). And what better than the official view of the higher court to return all the opponents on the ropes?
I suspect that behind this search for the official, hiding a real desire for authority and a real fear of heights. The authority to make sure someone can confirm that what they tell you is just (or, conversely, you can say we lie to you), fear of vacuum to avoid thinking that he might not have a definitive answer. In both cases, it assumes that there is somewhere a place where the rows are all true versions of everything. Despite everything we tried to make you think, this is not correct.
Wikipedia is not an administration or a registrar of state decisions. The official view is probably relevant, but it is rare that it is the only one. Let some of the official rock anyhow.

Admittedly, this is a great country little homogeneous, but some trends are found everywhere. If you want schematically a caricatured, the American belief in individual initiative and believes that each brings its own contribution to the Company. The idea: things happen because we decide to move yourself, without waiting for others. A sort of fundamental optimism, which could be mistaken for naivete, a way to count only on ourselves, assimilated often selfishness. It is always difficult to understand a different culture through his own eyes.
All this, I guess you all know (after all, in the formatted version, the Nike slogan says nothing else: it speaks directly to every American, it remains impossible to translate for others). Of course, all this does not exclude the naivete, selfishness, wickedness or stupidity, pure and simple, but it's the same for everyone. I'm just trying to define a state of mind. We will not land sliding: This mindset is what allows it to succeed in the States ? Besides, they really succeed? I do not know (and I'm typing).
Can we understand the approach Wikipedian if we neglect this aspect of culture? Wikipedia is everyone who comes to bring what he believes is best on its own initiative, without consulting anyone before. Everything is based on faith in hopeless "it'll work, just put it there." This is probably one of the projects most authentically American, the kind of thing that could never be carried out elsewhere, because elsewhere, it can not, it does not, we don ' will not believe or you do not even think. I am a big fan of geotagging on Wikipedia, it is no longer a mystery. I found a new way to enjoy the thing. Certainly it is not new and some of you have already noticed, but I will file it anyway.
As you already know (or not), Maps Bing, a competitor of Google Maps , has a likeable feature: over some urban places, it is possible to select "Satellite" and "Air" for a vision corner 3D isometric . It's fun and convenient to both: we clearly see the elevations better this way than with a simple aerial.
Now take an item or category that contains elements LBS sufficiently close, in an area covered by this projection. For example, the churches of Venice . Place the {{}} KML above (which extracts contact articles and creates a beautiful KML output) and give it all to eat Bing Maps. Switch to 3D isometric and enjoy the scenery. In the example of the churches of Venice, you can view each one in context. And I must say that the result rips serious race.

Sunday evening, I was looking for a gadget to do in order to put off going to bed. I went to see the base Palissy, the great French collection of everything and anything vaguely heritage. I open the search form and, moved by a sudden inspiration, I wonder how it has sundials in the stomach, the base (after all, there's always list of sundials in Paris to complete). So I go "dial" in the "object type" and I click on the lexicon, because the base Palissy, you never know in what the widgets are stored. A collection of various terms happens in the figure ("Cache-heater", "lock table", "frame with bells, etc..). "Sundial" is in the lot. Cool.
Ah yes, but.
Just above, I came across the word 'moon dial.

Wikipedia is well known, has articles on everything. Of course, those who despair that the list of Pokemon should not be placed on a par with theoretical physics. But since nobody listens, so good.
