Award "Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom "2010

awarded Ai Xiaoming Guo Jianmei &

Initiated by Julia Kristeva in 2008 to mark the 100 th anniversary of the birth of Simone de Beauvoir (January 9, 1908), the Prix "Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom" rewards the outstanding work and action of women and men who, in the spirit of Simone de Beauvoir, helping to promote women's freedom in the world.

Culturesfrance Supported by the National Book Centre and Editions Gallimard, Prix Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom ", with 30,000 euros, is awarded annually to the winner (s) elect (s) by an international jury.

The jury awarded the " Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom " 2010 to Ai Xiaoming & Guo Jianmei , two women engaged in fight for women's rights in China:

- Ai Xiaoming : videographer and Professor of Language and Chinese Literature, Director of the Section of Comparative Literature, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.

- Guo Jianmei : Lawyer in the Chinese NGO "Women's Law Studies and Legal Aid Center" , Beijing.

In presenting this distinction, the jury Price "Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom" intended to help mobilize international solidarity, to reaffirm the right of women, the protection of those who fight today at risk their lives, and defend with them the ideals of equality and peace.
