Award "Simone de Beauvoir on Freedom of Women" 2009 awarded to the collective "One Million Signatures" (Iran)




Initiated by Julia Kristeva in 2008 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Simone de Beauvoir (January 9, 1908), the Prix Simone de Beauvoir for the freedom of women "reward the work and the work of exceptional women and men who, in the spirit of Simone de Beauvoir, helping to promote freedom women worldwide.

Culturesfrance Funded by the National Library of France, the National Book Centre and Editions Gallimard, Prix Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom ", with 30,000 euros, is awarded annually to Winner (s) elect (s) by an international jury.

The Jury awarded the "Simone de Beauvoir on Freedom of Women", 2009 One million signatures , a group of Iranian women, for daring and originality of thought as reflected in its action, which aims to denounce the Iranian laws that discriminate against women, through an advocacy campaign with the support of a petition which aims to mobilize a million signatories. In presenting the award, the Jury "Simone de Beauvoir for women's freedom" intended to help mobilize international solidarity, to reaffirm the right of women, the protection of those who fight today to risk their lives and defend their side's ideals of equality and peace.

Chaired by Julia Kristeva and Sylvie Le Bon de Beauvoir (Honorary President), the International Jury Prize 2009 is composed of:
